Recently, wireless sensor networks which are consist of the great number of sensor nodes with radio communication device attracts much attention. General wireless sensor networks are required to sustain the operation such as surveillance and environmental monitoring for a long time. However, since sensor nodes are driven with battery of small capacity in general and replacement of the battery for all sensor nodes is impracticable, it is difficult to keep their operation for many days.
In this paper, I propose the more accurate energy estimation which does not depend on the length of the period and the data gathering scheme which is optimized for the environmental energy based sensor network in order to maximize the lifetime of environmental energy based sensor networks. The proposed estimation method predicts the energy at every period in a shorter interval. Further, the proposed data gathering scheme forms the cluster based on the amount of residual energy and the available environmental energy and achieves high energy efficiency.
