The development and enhancement of wireless access networks such as cellular network and Wireless LAN (WLAN) initiate the interests of the integrated networks where mobile users can make use of desirable wireless access networks seamlessly. The integrated networks also improve the efficiency of the system capacity all over the networks.
In this thesis, I focus on the streaming services requiring constant QoS and propose a load balancing method that reduces the number of vertical handoffs by introducing the evaluation function to estimate the cellular and WLAN system capacity. In addition, since the proposed method considers the unfairness between uplinks and downlinks of WLAN, it is possible to make better use of the WLAN resources.
