Enhanced TCP for Improvements of Fairness and Throughput

Recently, infrastructures with the wireless radio communication like ITS (Intelligent Transport System), inter-vehicle communication, information propagation in a time of disaster, and implementation to information appliances, attract attention because of the growth of their demands. Especially, the wireless multihop network is expected as a new wireless network conformation. Unlike other wireless networks which need ready-made infrastructures like base stations on wireless LAN, it builds up autonomously by only wireless nodes and does not need ready-made infrastructures. In the wireless multihop network, wireless nodes can communicate with the other nodes directly. In addition, they can communicate with nodes that exist out of the direct transmission range of the corresponding nodes because all wireless nodes have the relay functions.

In this thesis, two methods are proposed to improve the fairness and throughput without the feedback information from the intermediate nodes or the cross layer information. One method is restricting the period to transfer and the other is restraining TCP cwnd. And we evaluate these methods with the computer simulations.
